Derek Tumala (b. 1986) is a visual artist working with emerging technologies, the moving image, industrial materials and objects. His art practice revolves around the realms of science and nature meditating on the idea of interconnectedness. By forming ecologies and systems of thought, Tumala’s practice traces mutuality between humans and their built and natural environments. Tumala’s impulse is to examine and understand how the world operates and be able to approach visceral truths as material for his work.
